Course Description The fascinating evolution of statistics in baseball. Three veteran OLLI instructors who share a love of baseball examine how statistics have been woven into the historical fabric of baseball since the days of the Black Sox and Babe Ruth. Statistics have now come to play vital roles in roster building, player training methods, and game-time decisions. What might the future hold as these techniques become even more refined? As baseball strategists advance their craft, new questions of ethics and fair play emerge. This course will feature statistical vignettes about the Twins' past, present, and future.
OLLI is committed to making our courses accessible for members, and we expect our course leaders to help us make that happen. OLLI recommends that Course leaders teaching in classrooms wear voice amplifiers, and we set up our Zoom courses so that live captioning is an option. The OLLI office may contact you to make additional accommodations on a case by case basis. If you require additional accommodations, please contact OLLI@umn.edu and we will do our best to support your needs.
